Bonnie Lou Vonnegut, Age 76, October 25, 2025.

Bonnie was born in Toledo, Ohio on May 5, 1949 to John and Lillian Tompkins. After high school, she went on to receiving her Masters Degree from Tennessee State University. She also proudly served her country in the United States Army, where she became one of the first, in a group of women, to be allowed to serve as a member of the Military Police (MP).

As an entrepreneur throughout her life, she enjoyed the art of buying and selling with a company she owned called the Recycled Flamingo, which represented the symbol of her favorite animal, the Flamingo. Bonnie also loved boat riding on the river, and spent many hours working in her garden, as long as she was able, then enjoyed watching her husband do the gardening for her.

She loved to throw big parties and cookouts for her family and friends, loved going to concerts especially enjoying the concerts of two of her favorite artists, Janis Joplin and Jimmy Buffett.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; John and Lillian Tompkins, her sister; Jill Dunkerly, her brother; John Tompkins, and two great-grandchildren; Jacob Curtiss, and Karen Emerick.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving husband of 33 years; Tim Ferguson, children; Michelle Freeman, Louis Dhondt (Teresa), Tanya Jones (Ricky), Victoria Morris (Gary), Chris Ferguson, and David Dhondt (Rachel). Also surviving are her grandchildren; Jennifer Harris (Jeff), Daniel Chaney (Shayna), Phillip Dhondt (Makayla), Stephanie Dhondt, David Dhondt, Corey Rose, Michael Rose, Jonathan Rose, Matthew Ferguson, Gunner Ferguson, Haileigh Morris, and Landon Morris, 18 Great-Grandchildren, and her sister; JoEllen McBride.

Visitation with the family will begin at 12 Noon, Sunday, November 2, 2025, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 3:00 PM officiated by James Morris, at Boyd Funeral Home, 101 Elizabeth St., Ashland City TN 37015. (615)792-4677
