Football Spring 2024 Newcomers Begin Classes, Workouts

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – January 25, 2024 – Members of the #RockyTop24 Tennessee football signing class, which includes eight FBS transfers, have begun spring classes on the UT campus.

The first day of the spring semester began on Tuesday and offseason workouts got underway Monday morning.

The group of newcomers includes:

  • offensive lineman Max Anderson of Frisco, Texas
  • Tulane transfer wide receiver Chris Brazzell II of Midland, Texas
  • athlete Boo Carter of Chattanooga, Tennessee
  • defensive back Edrees Farooq of Columbia, Maryland
  • offensive lineman Gage Ginther of Fort Collins, Colorado
  • defensive back Marcus Goree Jr., of Cleveland, Tennessee
  • LSU transfer offensive lineman Lance Heard of Monroe, Louisiana
  • Alabama transfer tight end Miles Kitselman of Lyndon, Kansas
  • running back Peyton Lewis of Salem, Virginia
  • defensive lineman Kellen Lindstrom of Springfield, Missouri
  • wide receiver Mike Matthews of Lilburn, Georgia
  • Oregon State transfer defensive back Jermod McCoy of Whitehouse, Texas
  • Temple transfer defensive back Jalen McMurray of Upper Marlboro, Maryland
  • quarterback Jake Merklinger of Savannah, Georgia
  • Stanford transfer defensive lineman Jaxson Moi of Oceanside, California
  • defensive lineman Donald Palmer of West Palm Beach, Florida via Kansas Wesleyan
  • offensive lineman Jesse Perry of Lebanon, Tennessee
  • linebacker Eli Purcell of Knoxville, Tennessee
  • offensive lineman William Satterwhite of Barberton, Ohio
  • Notre Dame transfer tight end Holden Staes of Atlanta, Georgia
  • wide receiver Braylon Staley of Aiken, South Carolina
  • Middle Tennessee transfer defensive back Jakobe Thomas of Tullahoma, Tennessee

Many from the list participated in Citrus Bowl practices in December and traveled with the team to Orlando. All will go through spring practice with the Vols after spring break.
