Ashland City Vice Mayor Gerald Greer was sworn in at Tuesday’s City Council meeting to serve the remainder of Mayor JT Smith’s term, which ends in September.
Smith resigned as mayor following the August 1 election.
Councilman Chris Kerrigan was nominated and elected by the City Council to serve the remainder of the vice mayor’s term, which also ends in September.
Greer, along with all the City Council members who were recently elected, will be formally sworn in during the September City Council meeting. The Council will also appoint the vice mayor position again at that meeting.
City Judge Bill Stinnett administered the oath of office to both Greer and Kerrigan at tonight’s meeting.
