Cheatham County Mayor Kerry McCarver has declared Cheatham County a “disaster area,” due to the amount of damage in the county caused by the December 9 storms. This declaration will help speed recovery efforts to the hardest hit areas for utility repair and downed tree removal.

EMA Director Edwin Hogan reports the worst damage was in the Dry Creek Road area. One person was injured when a mobile home collapsed and he was trapped until responders freed the homeowner. The man refused ambulance transport. Many trees are down in that area and with the disaster declaration it will speed up recovery efforts to clear roads and driveways and restore power.

“The hand of God protected our county yesterday as more widespread damages and fatalities were reported in Montgomery and Davidson Counties. We’ll keep our neighbors in our thoughts and prayers,” writes Mayor McCarver.

Anyone who needs help as a result of the storms is asked to contact EMA Director Edwin Hogan at (615) 456-4419.
