The Cheatham County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about scam calls that appear to come from the agency’s official phone number. Scammers are using caller ID spoofing and voice changers, claiming to be Sheriff’s Office officials whose names can easily be found online.
The callers are falsely telling victims they have warrants for their arrest due to a missed court date and instructing them to make payments at a kiosk or ATM.
The Sheriff’s Office stresses it will never call to demand money or payment over the phone. If someone truly has a warrant, deputies will make contact in person. Residents are urged not to provide any personal or financial information to these callers.
