This is the Cheatham County Sheriff’s Report for July 15, 2022, provided by the Sheriff’s Office.

SHERIFF’S REPORT: THE HEAT IS STILL ON, EASY NOW…

Thankfully, no reports this week of attempted killings of another, nor domestics where appendages were seriously damaged. Most dog’s obeyed their owners while cats continued to care less. Very few deer versus vehicle collisions and not one report of canoe equipment being used to paddle-slap drunk boyfriends on the waterways.

Burglar alarm calls go off constantly in the county-wide expanse of Cheatham. The majority are false but a necessary response is needed to ensure your property is secure.

There is affordable alarm equipment out there and a sound investment for any Cheatham dweller. Nobody should be allowed the right to party after they stole your stuff. Let’s all keep a lid on those lazy no-gooders who want to swipe your junk to smoke it all up.

The deputy responded to a hit and run investigation and when arriving on the scene, both vehicles were already gone but left peculiar evidence. A more puzzling mystery unfolded when fresh shards of glass on the double yellow line led to a flattened taco, strange clumps of kitty litter and a Texas Instrument flip phone stolen at a party in 1999.

The heat is on. An unattended brush fire on Cheatham Dam Rd. was properly attended to by heroes. A personal injury four-wheeler wreck was reported off 70. The operator was trapped against a fence but freed by your amazing responders. Another wreck on Little Pond at Sam’s Creek ended as a rollover. Easy speedsters, easy!

Highway 12 was the scene of a reported “rolling domestic” (People in a vehicle, driving, arguing after fixing flats and throwing personal hygiene items at each other, while texting). It turned out to be a couple having car trouble and freaking out about whose turn it was to pay for the repair. Deputies assisted them anyway.

Hwy 12 caught our attention again when a mini-bike caught fire in someone’s garage. Arriving to help fire responders, it was reported that the “fired-up scooter” was put out by the owner. He was also irritated at his wife for calling 911 in the first place.

Calming measures was an exercise to no avail. On scene fire-fighters were refused access to investigate any other smoke, smoldering, sparks, buzzing or gassy sounds.

Two parties, involved in a custody dispute, were reportedly chasing each other in the city limits. One got behind the other at the KFC drive-up window and after paying for their meals, started speed chasing again up North Main, allegedly throwing signs and bones at one other.

Be On The Lookout: We received reports of a driver in an older Ford Crown Vic with a “whip antenna” impersonating as a police officer. Most Crown Vics are out of service and no known cruisers still operating in Cheatham. Please dial 911 if you see someone acting like they’re Barney Fife.

We love our first responders but have no patience for imposters. Have patience and love for one another this weekend and be careful out there!
