Shane Nasby, owner of Cledis Burgers & Beer, announced that the Bellevue location of the restaurant will host World War II Air Force Captain Jerry Neal this Veterans Day, Nov. 11. Now 104 years old, Captain Neal earned a Distinguished Flying Cross after his bomber plane crashed in the English Channel on D-Day on June 6, 1944. He completed 35 missions across Europe during the war and went on to receive six Air Medals over the course of his military career before retiring to Nashville.

Guests are invited to hear Mr. Neal’s story and meet the decorated veteran from 6 – 7 p.m. at Cledis Burgers & Beer, located at 7648 US Hwy 70 South in Bellevue. This event is open to the public free of charge, with no purchase necessary.

“Mr. Neal is a true American hero and one of the most inspiring people I’ve ever met,” said Nasby. “The fact that he’s still with us and wants to talk about his experiences is amazing, and we wanted to give him a platform for that. We decided to honor him this Veterans Day by publicly celebrating him and thanking him, along with other veterans in our area, for their service to our country.”

In addition to honoring Mr. Neal, Cledis Burgers and Beer will offer a free ‘American Hero’ meal (Cledis burger, fries, and drink) to all active and retired members of the United States military who show their military ID in-person at either location on Veterans Day. The Bellevue location is open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and the original location at 1011 Elm Hill Pike is open 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
