September 26, 2023 – Jonathan Mark Wingate, 21, was taken into custody by Cheatham County Sheriff’s deputies in Fairview late Monday night on Nashville arrest warrants related to the June 8 crash on Charlotte Pike at Brook Hollow Road that killed Derek Doster.
Wingate was the driver of a Jeep Gladiator traveling northeast at a high rate of speed when he lost control. The Jeep rolled onto the drivers side and slid into four other vehicles.
Doster, 36, of Kingston Springs, was Wingate’s passenger. He died shortly after arriving at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Wingate, who was critically injured in the crash, tested positive for THC. He is charged with vehicular homicide by intoxication, possession of methamphetamine, six counts of reckless aggravated assault and for not having a driver’s license. He’s being held in lieu of $232,000 bond.
