UPDATE 2:35PM: All students at Harpeth High School are safe. After a joint investigation with the Cheatham County Sheriff’s Office, Tennessee Office of Homeland Security and Tennessee Highway Patrol, it was determined there was no credible threat at HHS or any other Cheatham County school.

Law enforcement identified a person of interest from out of state and the investigation is ongoing with multiple jurisdictions.

Original Story:

Cheatham County authorities placed Harpeth Middle School and Harpeth High School on a precautionary lockout Monday while investigating a possible targeted threat at Harpeth High School. Officials emphasized that all students are safe.

Due to the proximity of the two campuses, both schools remained in lockout as a safety measure. Several elementary and middle school students from Pegram Elementary Fine Arts Magnet, Kingston Springs Elementary, and Harpeth Middle School who were at HHS for a school function were safely returned to their schools by bus. No direct threats were reported against any of these students.

The school district said additional information will be shared as it becomes available, and families in the South Cluster have been notified via email.
