A Kingston Springs man has died following a five-vehicle crash in Nashville, WSMV says.

It happened on Charlotte Pike around 4:30 p.m. Thursday, June 8, according to police.

Authorities say Jonathan Mark Wingate, 21, of Kingston Springs was driving a Jeep Gladiator at a high rate of speed in the northeast lanes of Charlotte Pike when he lost control.

Wingate then overcorrected the Jeep, causing it to roll onto its driver’s side and began to slide. Four other cars crashed as a result.

Police said Derek Doster, 36, who was a passenger in the Jeep, later died at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Wingate suffered critical injuries.

As the crash investigation remains ongoing, a blood sample will be drawn from Wingate to determine whether alcohol or drugs were in his system at the time of the crash.
