Two people escaped safely after a kitchen fire damaged their home in rural Pegram on Wednesday morning.
The Pegram Fire Department responded to a home on Cub Creek Road around 10:13 a.m. after the homeowner called 911 to report a kitchen fire and confirmed everyone had made it outside safely.
The Cheatham County Sheriff’s Office was the first to arrive and helped slow the fire’s spread by securing a rear entry door until firefighters arrived.
Firefighters from the Pegram Fire Department, with automatic aid from the Kingston Springs Fire Department and mutual aid from the Ashland City Fire Department, entered the home, quickly put out the fire and ventilated the residence to remove smoke.
The home was occupied by two adults. No injuries were reported.
The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents.
