On Sunday, May 21, 2023, at approximately 7:30 AM, Cheatham County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to the 1000 block of Interstate Circle in reference to a shooting that had just occurred.
The caller reported to Cheatham Dispatch the description of the suspect vehicle involved, and as law enforcement was responding to the scene, the vehicle was seen traveling at a high rate of speed towards Davidson County by a Pleasant View Police Officer.
Pleasant View Police pursued the vehicle until it evaded law enforcement within Davidson County.
Cheatham Deputies responded to the scene of the shooting, where it was discovered that the suspect had fired at least 20 rounds from a rifle into the victim’s residence, which was occupied by 7 people– including 3 small children.
Throughout the course of the investigation, the suspect was identified as Christopher Kent Whitaker (1/29/75) and a total of 9 warrants have been issued for his arrest. The charges include Aggravated Assault, Reckless Endangerment and Evading Arrest in a Motor Vehicle.
