Babe Ruth (Wheat) Adcock, age 88, of Ashland City, Tennessee, passed away Saturday, September 23, 2023, at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.

She was born on October 3, 1934, in Hermitage Springs, Tennessee, to the late Thomas Wheat and Bertie (Huffiens) Wheat.

She worked for Rhodes Furniture and Cleaning. Ruth loved crocheting and animals. She will also be remembered for her jam cakes.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Bertie Wheat; husband, Charles Marshall Adcock; son, Danny Ray Adcock; brothers, Charlie Wheat, Willard Wheat, Ernest Wheat, and Bill Wheat; sisters, Betty Bagley, Edna Hamilton, Merline Honadell, and Olean Houchin; grandson, Jeremy Adcock; and granddaughter, Lori Adcock.

She is survived by her son, Charles Adcock, Jr. (Jeri); daughter, Virginia Hackett (Alan); grandchildren, Ray Adcock (Jolene), Danny “Red” Adcock, Amy Adcock, Jason Adcock, Christina Williams (Josh), Terry Pugh (Deborah), Brian Hackett (Tammy), Jonathan Hackett (Susie Crotty), and Heather Steele (Justin); granddaughters-in-law, Jessica Loyd (Michael) and Vicky Adcock; ex-granddaughter-in-laws, Rita Taylor and Cathy Halfacre; great-grandchildren, Ashley Cabrera, Andrew Hackett (Summer), Kayla Hackett, Stephanie Robertson, Ethan Steele, Tyler Steele, Landon Steele, Lexi Hackett, Marty Hackett, Maddy Adcock, Jasmine Adcock, Madison Williams, Jackson Williams, Collin Williams, Jude Williams, Miranda Burton, Kimberly Burton, Carmine Adcock, Tucker Adcock, and Ryan Adcock; great-great-grandchildren, Emma Cabrera, Isaac Cabrera, Sophia Cabrera, and Piper Robertson; beloved dog, Baby Girl; and many friends and extended family members.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at 12 noon in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Cowden Cemetery in Nashville, Tennessee. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 26, 2023, from 4 pm to 7 pm, and Wednesday, September 27, 2023, from 10 am until the hour of service at 12 noon. Serving as pallbearers will be Ray Adcock, Jason Adcock, Jonathan Hackett, Brian Hackett, Justin Steele, and Tucker Adcock.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
