Carolyn Jean Newell, age 84, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 11, 2021, at her home surrounded by her family.
Carolyn was born in Minor Hill, Tennessee, on December 25, 1936, to the late Alfred Joe and Clara (White) Bassham.
She was a retired optometry technician for Cheatham County Vision Clinic and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jay Newell; daughter, Kimberly Hindman; grandson, Josh Hindman; and sisters, Lee Stevenson and Edith Green.
She is survived by her sons, Tony Newell, Keith Newell (Angela), and Mitchell Newell (Patsy); grandchildren, Chapple Arnold (Travis), Bryant Newell, Caleb Newell, Jeremy Hindman (Chassity), Justin Newell (Susan), Luke Newell (Dana), and Lydia Binkley (Ezra); 14 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Joan Balitsky and Lana Hogan (Bobby).
Funeral service will be Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at 1 pm in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home with Freddie Garza officiating. Burial will follow in Bearwallow Community Cemetery in Ashland City, Tennessee. Visitation will be Monday, December 13th from 3 pm to 8 pm and Tuesday, December 14th from 10 am to service hour of 1 pm. Serving as pallbearers will be Bryant Newell, Jeremy Hindman, Justin Newell, Luke Newell, Ezra Binkley, and Johnny Balitsky.
