Dalton Lee “Donny” Floied, 75, passed away peacefully at Alive Hospice in Nashville, Tennessee, on September 10, 2026.
Donny was born on July 19, 1951, in Centerville, Tennessee, to the late Amos and Mary Agnes Stewart Floied. He spent his teenage years in Chicago, where he played music and sang in a band with his high-school friends. Music remained an important part of his life, and he continued to enjoy playing guitar throughout the years.
After high school, Donny returned to his beloved Tennessee, where he would make his home for the rest of his life. He worked as an ironworker, welder, millwright, and crane operator and retired from Cumberland Machine Company. He was a skilled and hardworking man who took pride in working with his hands. In his later years, he shared a home with his sister, Vanessa “Sissy.” They were very close, and her companionship and care meant a great deal to him.
Donny had a creative and curious spirit. He enjoyed drawing and painting and had a lifelong interest in history, including searching for artifacts. He also enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and gardening. He was quick-witted, had a great sense of humor, and loved making people laugh.
In addition to his parents, Donny was preceded in death by his wife, Debbie Louise Floied, and his brother, Charles “Ray” Floied.
He is survived by his daughters, Theresa Crean (David) of Atlanta, Georgia, and Sarah Hazlewood (Ryan) of Ashland City, Tennessee; his son, Dalton Floied (Kristan) of Atlanta, Georgia; his grandson, Rysen Hazlewood of Ashland City, Tennessee; his brother, Tommy Floied (Kay) of Lobelville, Tennessee; his sister, Vanessa Rediker (Bartley) of Joelton, Tennessee; his sister-in-law, Sherry Floied of Florida; and his nieces and nephews.
Donny had a deep love of family and will be remembered for his love of music, his creativity, his appreciation for the outdoors and history, and his quick wit and humor. He will be missed by his family and friends.
