Donald Eugene Porter, Sr., age 84 of Ashland City, Tennessee passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2022 at his home.
Mr. Porter was born October 4, 1937 in Old Hickory, TN. He was a son of the late George Garland Porter and Ida Lucille Montgomery.
He was a four-time golden glove feather weight boxing champion in his teen years. For many years he installed fencing in the Hollywood area of California and was often employed for distinguished celebrities. He was a hard worker and successful in the construction business. Donald enjoyed the opportunity to make people laugh. He was the patriarch of his family…known to them as a great husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
In addition to his parent, he was preceded in death by his son, James Dean Porter; and a sister, Mildred Jackson; brother, George Robert Porter.
Mr. Porter is survived by his wife, Lily Yanez Porter; his children, Valerie Porter Bruner, Angela Porter Armstrong, Clara Porter Powers, Celia Porter Powers, Michelle Porter Roman, and Donnie Eugene Porter, Jr.; his sisters, Alice Renwick, and Debra Silvestri. Also surviving are 20 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 18, 2022 at 2:00 PM at the Taylor Funeral Home. Place of rest will be in the Dickson County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Monday from 11:00 AM until the time of service.
