Douglas Boyd, age 84 of Ashland City, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2023 at Centennial Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee.
Mr. Boyd was born on July 3, 1938 in Ashland City, Tennessee to the late George & Jessie Cothern Boyd.
He was a veteran of the United States Army. Douglas graduated from Cheatham County High school where he was an outstanding football and basketball player. He was inducted into the Cheatham County Sports Hall of Fame in 2021. Douglas retired from the Tennessee Department of Transportation after 43 years of service. He loved to spend time in the garden, go to Kentucky, fish, hunt, go to any auction and play golf.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, James, Clarence, Jewel, Tony and Jimmy Boyd; sisters Katie Darrow, Edith Hargrove and Virginia Gibbs.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years Frances Ann Hunter Boyd; daughter, Wendy Boyd of Sweetwater, Tn.; son & daughter-in-law, Adam and Laura Boyd of Naples, Fl.; three precious grandchildren, Hunter & Mackenzie Boyd and Kimora Lyon; sisters, Nellie Perry and Lillie Davidson; sister-in-law, Joyce Boyd; and his furry friend, Gus.
Funeral services will be conducted at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 28th, with Marvis West officiating. Burial will follow at EverRest of Cheatham with his nephews serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, from 11:00 AM until the hour of service at 2:00 PM.
