Emma Nell (Pulley) Ray, age 86, of Ashland City, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, June 23, 2025, at The Waters of Cheatham.
She was born on July 30, 1938, in Waynesboro, Tennessee, to the late Ed Pulley and Goldie (Pope) Pulley. Nell worked for ACME Boot, Midstate Automotive, and O’Reilly’s, but, above all else, she was a mother. She loved being outdoors and enjoyed spending time at her fish pond.
Nell loved gardening and loved her family even more. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Goldie Pulley; brother, Kenneth Pulley; and brother-in-law, Travis Neil.
She is survived by her sons, Raymond Ray (Stacie) and Charles “Bubby” Ray (Misty); daughters, Judy Grissom (Nathan), Carolyn Grissom (Jason Butler), and Tina Hamilton (Jimmy); brother, Larry Eugene Pulley; sister, Sue Ray; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be Thursday, June 26, 2025, at 3pm in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home with Pastor Chris Moore officiating. Burial will follow in EverRest of Cheatham in Pleasant View, Tennessee.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 25, 2025, from 4pm to 7pm and Thursday, June 26, 2025, from 1pm until the service hour of 3pm.
Serving as pallbearers will be Steven Grissom, John Grissom, Daniel Grissom, Joshua Hamilton, Cody Ray, and Michael Denton.
