Faye Lockert McDonald, age 89, passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2022, at her home in Ashland City, Tennessee.

Faye was a Cheatham County native, born in Ashland City, Tennessee, on October 26, 1932, to the late William Bradley and Mary Hazel (Perry) Lockert.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, CSM (Ret) John Russell McDonald; brothers, W.B. (Dot), Jimmy, Lopez, Mike Lockert and sister, Ann Lockert Fields (Charlie).

Her late husband was a career soldier having served two tours in Korea and three tours in Vietnam. Faye traveled with her husband from bases in Texas to Alaska in furtherance of his service for a country she loved dearly. She knew well the sacrifices both the soldiers abroad and their families at home made during long deployments and she spent much of her time volunteering to assist these younger soldiers and their families. She continued these efforts even following her husband’s retirement.

Faye organized an effort in Tennessee for cities across the state to adopt specific units of soldiers deployed to Iraq. These cities would send care packages to the soldiers and offer support to the families that remained at home. At one time, she and Mary Grey Jenkins organized over 5,000 care packages donated from the community to be sent to Ashland City’s adopted unit abroad.
