Gary William Wilson (Flip) was called home to be with God on January 30th, 2026 in Nashville, TN. This came suddenly and unexpectedly to those he left behind. However, Gary has always had an unwavering faith in his Lord Jesus Christ, believing that he was in His love and care, whether he lived or died.
Gary is celebrating in Heaven with his mom, Mary Evelyn Wilson, his father, Tommy Wilson, and his wife of 38 years, Deborah Lynn Wilson. He leaves behind his wife of 7 years, Beverly Wilson, his daughter, Aimee Lynn Wilson, one friend like his son, Ashton Rhinehart, one sister, Carol Furnier(Pete), 2 stepsons, one step daughter, 5 grandchildren and numerous other dear friends and family members.
Gary was born on September 14, 1949 in Nashville, TN where he lived most of his life. He has resided in Ashland City, TN for the last 8 years. He graduated from Overton High school in 1967, and went on to earn a B.S. degree from Belmont College. He was a firefighter with the Nashville Metro Fire Department for 35 years approximately . Gary filled every room with warmth, wit and unwavering love. He was a devoted husband, son, brother, friend, employee, and church member. He was a loving father, not only to Aimee, but to others who needed a father. Gary’s presence was a gift-his laugh, and his steadfast love. While his absence leaves an immeasurable void, his family finds comfort in knowing that his legacy lives on in the lives he touched.
The family will receive friends and family at Boyd Funeral Home in Ashland City on Thursday, February 5th from 2:00-6:00p. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, the 6th at 1:00p, with visitation one hour prior. Pastor Jonathan Cathy and retired District Fire Chief Charles Vance will preside. Burial will follow at Christ Church Memorial Gardens. Tim Holmes, Stan Bailey, John Stone, Gary Moore Sr., Mike Turner, Ron Patterson, and Larry Frierson from the Metro Nashville Fire Department will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Nashville Fire Buffs. Any checks should be made out to Nashville Fire Buffs.
