Harold Howard Hooper, age 85, of Ashland City, Tennessee, passed away in Nashville, Tennessee, on Friday, September 1, 2023.
He was born in Cheatham County, Tennessee, on March 11, 1938, to the late James Lanell Hooper and Callie Estelle (McCool) Hooper.
He graduated from Cheatham County High School Class of 1957 and served 2 terms in the United States Army. Harold worked in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He was passionate about, hunting, fishing and camping, as well as his family. He was a member of the Ashland City United Methodist Church and loved the Lord and to sing hymns.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Callie Hooper; brothers, James Hooper, Jerry Hooper, Lewis Hooper, and David Hooper; and sisters, Zona Mae Lyons, Virginia Pickett, and Stella Tidwell.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Martha Ann (Harris) Hooper; sons, Harold Thomas Hooper (Celina), Timothy Harris Hooper (Jackie), and James “Richie” Richard Hooper; grandchildren, Sam, Anna, Timothy, Lee, and Alan; and great-grandchildren, Brice, Logan, Hunter, Everette, Goldie, and Emory.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at 2 pm in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home with Reverend Dr. Allison Gilliam officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery in Ashland City, Tennessee. Visitation will be the same day from 11 am until the service hour of 2 pm. Pallbearers will be grandchildren and relatives. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Forest Hill Cemetery or Ashland City United Methodist Church.
