Iris Zulene R. Bagwell, 88, of Columbia, Tennessee departed this life on Wednesday morning, July 30, 2025, at Maury Regional Medical Center surrounded by her family.
She was born on June 25, 1937, in Joelton, Tennessee, to the late Lee Reeder and Estelle (Dugger) Reeder. She was the youngest of 8 children. She was a member of Ashland City First Baptist Church for over 40 years. When she moved to Columbia, she joined Pleasant Heights Baptist Church.
Her career included being secretary at State Industries and a former board member of the Ashland City Senior Center (Thrive 55). In her youth, she participated in basketball, and throughout her life, she maintained an appreciation for music, dancing and two-stepping. God and family were central to her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Bagwell; parents, Lee and Estella Reeder; granddaughter, Brittany Bagwell; daughter-in-law, Karen Bagwell; and her brothers and sisters.
She leaves behind her son, Jeffery Wynn Bagwell; daughter, Sandra Lynn Hudspeth (Jeffrey); sister-in-law, Myrtle Ruth Reeder; grandchild, Rachel Anne Bell (Kendall); and great-grandchildren, Olivia and Elsie Bell.
Funeral service will be Friday, August 1, 2025, at 2pm in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home with Pastor Maurice Hollingsworth officiating. Burial will follow in EverRest of Cheatham LLC in Pleasant View, Tennessee.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 31, 2025, from 5pm to 7pm and on Friday from 12 noon until service hour of 2pm. Pallbearers will be members of the Ashland City First Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Thrive 55, the Ashland City Senior Center (please make checks payable to Friends of the Center).
