Jackie Ray Poss, age 80, went to his heavenly home on Sunday, June 2, 2024.
Jackie was born in Monroe, North Carolina, on February 15, 1944, to the late Jaloyd Poss and Velma (Cochran) Poss.
Jackie was a retired mechanic for Southeastern Brake and Clutch, an avid drag racer for 58 years at Union Hill, loved hunting, fishing and swinging in the front yard. He will be greatly missed by all who know him.
Jackie is survived by his wife of 59 years, Elizabeth (Hand) Poss; son, Jackie Duane (Brenda) Poss; daughter, Mendy Nash; brothers, Billy Joe (Ruth) Poss and Johnny Poss; sister, Rita Fay “Susie” (Donnie) Neely; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Ashley) Poss, Joshua (Sierra) Bailey, Jacob Poss, Samuel Spain, Kayla (Chris) Biggs; great-grandchildren, Dakota Adams, Wesley Biggs, C.J. Biggs and Kacie Biggs; uncle, Billy Cochran; brothers-in-law, Danny Hand, Golden Edward Hand, and Robert Curtis Hand.
Preceding Jackie in death are his parents, Jaloyd and Velma Poss; great-granddaughter, Abbagail Legh Adams-Austin; and father and mother-in-law, George E. and Frances E. Hand.
Funeral service will be Thursday, June 6, 2024, with Derek Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Harpeth Hills Memorial Gardens in Nashville, Tennessee. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 5, 2024, from 3 pm to 7 pm and Thursday, June 6, 2024, from 10 am until the service hour of 12:30. Serving as active pallbearers will be Joshua Bailey, Jefferey Poss, Dakota Adams, Johhny Poss, Jacob Poss, and Danny Hand.
