James “Sam” Samuel McWaters, age 70, of Ashland City, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, November 21, 2025, at The Residence at Alive Hospice in Nashville, Tennessee.
He was born on March 8, 1955, in Princeton, Kentucky.
Sam was a retired auto mechanic for Oil Change Plus. He enjoyed spending time fishing, hunting, and taking care of his yard and garden. Sam loved nothing more than playing with his grandkids.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Inez (Elliott) McKinney.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Kathy (Mitchell) McWaters; son, Jeremy McWaters; daughter, Samantha Stinson (Corey); 3 siblings; and grandchildren, Nolyn James and Jase Lee.
Memorial visitation will be Sunday, November 23, 2025, from 2pm to 4pm with a short closing prayer at 4pm in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home.
