Funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon, October 8, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. from the chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home. Rev. Mark Carrigan and Rev. Chance Strickland will officiate. Place of rest will be in the Bluff View Memorial Gardens in Kingston Springs, TN. Visitation will be on Friday beginning at 10:00 a.m. until time of service.

Those desiring, memorials are suggested to Alive Hospice.

John, age 72, of Kingston Springs, TN died peacefully October 6, 2021 at the Residence of Alive Hospice.

He was born in Winchester, Virginia, and was the son of the late John David and Alice May Nesmith Haines. He was preceded in death by a son, Todd Haines, his brother, Jerry Haines, and his four-legged companion Buster.

Throughout his life, he was involved in many business ventures. Probably in the last years of his life, he found out the joy of being a United Methodist pastor. He enjoyed ministering to people and helping them in their spiritual life.

As a young hitch-hiking teenager in the early years, he achieved much success as an entrepreneur being involved in many business ventures. John was a wheeler and dealer by nature and a competitive businessman. He served his south Cheatham community as a Cheatham County Commissioner for some 20 years and being chairman for 6 years. He was formerly Vice-President of Ensco. John was a former member of the Board of Directors of the Community Bank and Trust. He was also past president of the Tennessee Towing Association.

John loved the farm and farming. Loved the land and row crop farming.

John had a personality that was always inviting to the folks around him. He never met a stranger and always remembered those that he met.

Survivors include his wife; Annette Haines, his children; John Leslie Haines, Wesley David Haines (Courtney) Aimee Lynn White (Steve), Allison Haines Stinson (Toby), Samuel E. Spivey III (Amy Gaynor), Ray Haines, and Tonia Haines, his brother: Greg Haines (Teresa), his sisters: Jackie Pugh (Harry) and Donna Adkins, his 21 grandchildren and his 4 great-grandchildren.
