Joyce Dean (Carney) Walker Hicks, age 94, of Ashland City, Tennessee, passed away at the Residence at Alive Hospice in Nashville, Tennessee, on Saturday, May 18, 2024.
She was born in Cheatham County, Tennessee, on December 21, 1929, to the late Thomas A. Carney and Iva Love (Anderson) Carney.
She worked for State Industries in insurance.
Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Iva Carney; husbands, T. A. Walker and Barney Hicks; son, Lynn Walker; brothers, Norman Elmo Carney and Max Elmer Carney; and sister, Doris Jean Anderson.
She is survived by her son, Kenton Lee Walker and his wife, Anita Dowlen-Potter, Joyce’s devoted caregiver; brothers, Charles Abner Carney (Loretta) and Thomas Ray Carney (Mary Ellen); sisters, Billie Magill and Charlene Anderson; and granddaughter, Sadie Walker.
Funeral service will be on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at 1 pm in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home. Burial will follow at EverRest of Cheatham in Pleasant View, Tennessee. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 22, 2024, from 3 pm to 7 pm and Thursday, May 23, from 11 am until the service hour of 1 pm.
