Mary Valerie (Eckroat) Dittman, age 88, of Ashland City, Tennessee, departed this life on Friday, October 10, 2025.
She was born June 9, 1937, in Bremerton, Washington, to the late George Joseph Eckroat and Valera (Coffey) Eckroat. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Richard Henry Dittman; brother, James Eckroat; and sisters, Patricia Applegate, Barbara Wild, and Georgia Knight.
Mary was a member of St. Martha’s Catholic Church. She served in the United States Navy. She was known by her family as a fantastic homemaker. Mary frequented Thrive 55, better known as the Ashland City Senior Center. She worked as a receptionist for the Tennessee Department of Education, as well as at Cheap Hill Post Office for many years.
She leaves behind her sons, Paul Dittman (Catherine Thomas) and Jim Dittman (Robin); daughter, Angela Taber (Gary); grandchildren, Kayla Dittman, Bryan Dittman, Sarah Dittman, Gregory Dittman, Michael Dittman, Riley Dittman, David Dittman, and George Taber; and several great grandchildren.
The family would also like to extend their gratitude to Accent Care Hospice for their exceptional care of their mother.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at 12pm at St. Martha’s Catholic Church in Ashland City, Tennessee, with Father Ben Butler officiating. Burial will follow at Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery in Nashville, Tennessee. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at Cheatham County Funeral Home from 4pm to 6pm with a Rosary service at 6pm and Wednesday, October 15, 2025, from 11am to 12pm at St. Martha’s Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Martha’s Catholic Church or Cheatham County Veterans Memorial Park.
