Rena Ewing Obit

Rena Merlene “Miller” Ewing, 71, of Ashland City, passed away February 18, 2025. While her husband David Morgan Ewing Sr. was still in the Air Force in Cape Charles around 1973, Rena worked at a chain called Jones Department Store. While working here she won a grant at the store that allowed her to go to nursing school and become a nurse. She spent several years in the service of many hospitals including St. Thomas here in Nashville before getting too sick to work. She moved to Ashland City where she got a house through Habitat for Humanity with the help of a kind man at Pinnacle bank. She loved her independence, instant coffee, and spent morning and afternoons on her porch watching the birds and squirrels and cars pass by. She was a devout Christian, a good mother, and now she lives with our Lord.

She is preceded in death by her sister, Lanna Miller Binkley; daughter, Lauren Ewing; father, Elbert Edward Miller; mother, Georgia Bernice Robertson Miller; and three brothers: Terry Allen Miller, who passed at age 52 on June 3, 2000; Johnny Denzile “J. D.” Miller, who passed at age 58 on March 31, 2001; and Elder Danny Edward Miller, who passed at age 69 on Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 2014.

Rena is survived by her son, David Morgan Ewing Jr.; her sisters, Dona Miller Washer of Madison, Berna Van Norstran, and Mona Miller Mitchell; her beloved friends (Anam Cara) Shelia Reed of Ashland City and Cory Greco.
