Robert-D.-Doug-Winters

Robert D. “Doug” Winters was born on March 30, 1953 and passed away suddenly on August 8, 2024.

Doug recently returned to Nashville after living in Kingston Springs TN for the last 37 years. He was a member of Vue Church in Bellevue.

Preceded in death by Father, Robert C. Winters and Mother, Laura Hunter Winters, Fur Babies, Vodka, Bubba and most recently Bodie.

Survived by wife of 44 years, Barbara Bowman Winters. Brother, Dennis Winters, Linda of Hendersonville, and Jimmy Winters, Marcia of Plum PA. Nieces: Lori Catron and family, Holly Hood and family and nephew, Jesse Winters and family.

Doug grew up with his Father in the military so he lived in several states and also lived in Germany. He retired from Cummings Signs after 42 years. He had traveled to many states while he was working.

When he retired he had 3 states he had not seen so they drove out west for his 3. He wanted Barbara to be able to say she had seen all 50 states, so after another 18 day road trip out west that dream was fulfilled.

One of his favorite modes of travel was the Senior Bus Trips. He was skeptical at first but after the first trip he was hooked. They both made many friends on these trips.

Doug loved God, his church, church family and all the neighbors who became family to him. He deeply loved his wife, his brothers and of course his fur babies.

Doug will be missed by many. He loved to make people laugh and greeted everyone with a smile. Rest in peace my best friend until we are together again.

Celebration of Life will be held on 09/01/2024 at Crosspoint Church in Bellevue (Beside Home Depot) 7675 US Hwy 70S Nashville, TN 37221-3076. Visitation from 2:00 to 3:00, with a service to follow. Feel free to share a special memory if you would like to. https://www.alternativecremationandfuneralservice.com
