Robert Lynn “Dugger” Petty, age 71 of Kingston Springs, TN died peacefully on July 17, 2023, at his home with his family by his side.
He was the son of the late Kenneth Rudolph and Rosannah Hix Rader Petty.
Dugger proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He was a member of the Shacklett Church of Christ, where he served as an elder.
Dugger had a large and loving family, which he loved dearly. He had a passion for fishing, hunting and especially duck hunting. He had a long working career during his life. He was the owner of the former Duggers Grocery on Hwy 70 in the Shacklett Community and later worked with Purity Dairies. He was involved with Tennessee Tool Supply, with his brothers, for several years which is known today as Tennessee Contractors. Even though he worked publicly he always considered himself a farmer. He was a cattle farmer and enjoyed his time raising crops.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Debra O’Brien Petty; his sons, Jody Petty (Jennifer), Jeremy Petty (Denise), Jeffrey Petty (Holly) and Jason Petty (Elisabeth), his brothers and sisters; Kenneth Petty (Carol), Gary L. Petty (Linda), Ted Petty (Lee), Joyce Beshears, Gail Andrews (Ben), Margarette Chapman (Raymond) and Patricia “Trish” Gentry (Gary), his grandchildren; Katelynn, Kendahl, Jaden, Jalynn, Bryce, Graham and Heath.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, July 22, 2023, at 12 Noon from the chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home with Bro. Gary Anderson officiating. Place of rest will be in the Scott Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday evening, July 21st from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday beginning at 10:00 a.m. until time of service. http://taylorsince1909.com
