Shirley Jean (Hamblin) Givens, age 84, of Ashland City, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at TriStar Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
She was born in Nashville, Tennessee, on February 25, 1941, to the late Robert Patterson Hamblin and Martha (Wright) Hamblin.
She spent her career as a CNA at the hospital and HillCrest Healthcare Center, eventually retiring from Cheatham County Nursing Home after many years of dedicated service. Caring for others was her greatest joy.
Shirley loved working on puzzles and shopping from catalogues – she was among the few who still placed orders by mail.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Martha Hamblin; husband, James Givens; daughter, Marietta Pressley; brothers, James “Bubba” Hamblin, Lawrence Hamblin, Robert Hamblin, David Hamblin, Leonard Hamblin, Charlie Hamblin, and Kenneth Hamblin; sisters, Annie Lee Brown, Mary Elizabeth Heath, Margie Hendrix, and Barbara Lucille Hamblin; and grandson, Kenneth Brogdon.
She is survived by her sons, Jerry Pressley (Peggy), Danny Pressley (Gladys), and Tony Pressley; daughter, Donna Hines; grandchildren, Joseph Pressley, Jerry Pressley, Jr., Rachael Zelling, Eric Parker, Samantha Ward, Christopher Hinnencamp, Kenneth Hinnencamp, Roger Highers, Jr, Marie Highers, Matthew Highers, and Katie Highers; and several great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be Thursday, December 4, 2025, at 1pm in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home with Derek Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Felts Cemetery in Ashland City, Tennessee.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 3, 2025, from 3pm to 6pm and Thursday, December 4, 2025, from 10am until the service hour of 1pm.
