Mr. Stanley Eugene Webb Sr., age 69, of Ashland City, TN passed away on September 11, 2021 at Alive Hospice in Nashville.
Stan was raised in Nashville, TN, and started writing songs at the age of 14. He got his first cut by George Jones which earned him the award for SESAC’s most promising country writer. His most successful song was “I’m from the country” which landed him the SESAC country song of the year award and soon afterward he was honored with SESAC’s Legacy Award. Stan had a passion for giving back by encouraging and educating young writers. He also performed in prisons and at the VA hospital also traveling to Canada for the Wounded Warriors Project.
Stan was a Private First Class in the Army and received an award for being the companies most outstanding trainee. He was also trained in special infantry and a platoon leader.
Stan was preceded in death by his parents George Edward Webb and Bobbie Jean Vandergriff, brother, Eddie Webb and Gary Webb; and sister, Darlene Webb.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Viola Webb; son, Stan Webb Jr (Melissa) of Lebanon, TN; daughter Bonnie Jean Vazquez (Edgar) of Shelbyville, TN; sister, Kimberly (Jeff) Fitts of Ashland City, TN; grandchildren Kayla Webb, Devon Webb, and Aiden Webb; great-grandchild, Colton Webb.

Mr. Webb will be cremated. There will be a service with military honors at the Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery in Pegram at a later date.
