Sue-Walling

Sue Walling, a beloved preschool teacher, nanny, and homemaker, passed away peacefully on May 15th, 2023 in Pleasant View.

Sue was born Emily Sue Lassiter on August 18th, 1942 in Coopertown to Fred and Christine Lassiter.

Sue attended and graduated from Coopertown High School with a passion for learning. She pursued this passion by becoming a preschool teacher for Springfield Baptist Church where she taught countless children the fundamental skills they would need to succeed later in life for over 20 years. Moreover, she was well-known as a compassionate nanny in Louisville for 13 years. Sue was an instrumental part of so many young lives.

Outside of her professional life, Sue had many hobbies and interests that brought her great joy. Most notably, she loved sewing and needlepoint work. In fact, Sue even made outfits for her daughters when they were young. However, nothing brought Sue more joy than spending time with her family. Christmas was particularly special to her and it was when the family would be together.

Sue is survived by her four loving children: Mark (Sherrie) Weaver; Christy (Mark) Linder; Jason (Lucy) Walling; Nelea (Billy) Paulus; best friend/daughter, Nelea Absher; Grandchildren: Beatrice Walling, Brock Linder, Alexander Paulus, and Zachary Paulus; and adopted grandson David Absher. She was deeply devoted to each and every one of them.

Sue will be remembered by those who knew her as strong-willed yet highly loving. Determined but stubborn at times with a firm opinion of what’s right or wrong. A giving person with capabilities of monumental proportion that anyone could ever imagine would typically have embedded in them. Her exceptional caregiving skills were unrivaled.

On Friday, May 19th at Springfield Memorial Gardens, a graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM in Sue’s honor. The family invites all those who knew her to come and pay their respects. https://www.springfieldfh.com

Sue was a remarkable woman whose contributions to her family, friends, and community were immeasurable. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
