Vincent “Vince” Paul Simon, age 71 of Pleasant View, Tennessee, left peacefully for his heavenly home on Wednesday, February 15th, 2023, at NorthCrest Medical Center in Springfield Tennessee. Malinda, his loving wife of 20-years, was at his side.

Vince was born April 19th, 1951, in Detroit, Michigan to the late Charles Henry & Rose (“Popp”) Simon.

He graduated from Pershing High School in 1969 and went on to study art history and sculpture at Wayne State and Oakland Universities until he was drafted in 1971.

During the Vietnam conflict, Vince was stationed at Camp Page, Korea and served as a Radio Relay and Carrier Attendant Specialist for the U.S. Army. In 1974 he was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army receiving the National Defense Service Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea), and Marksman (Rifle) awards.

After his military service, Vince went to work for General Motors in Pontiac, Michigan where he was a devoted member of UAW Local 594 for 30-years. Vince applied his appreciation for art at GM as an automotive paint application and finishing expert. He retired as a Team Leader in 2006 from Pontiac East Assembly.

Vince was proud to be a native of the Motor City. He never hesitated to declare to anyone that he was a Detroit sports fan. Vince was a faithful fan of the Detroit Tigers and a diehard Detroit Lions fan through and through.

In addition to art, sculpture, and classic car automobiles, Vince loved military history, collecting vintage vinyl records, caring for nature, pets, and wildlife. He was also very gifted with a unique satirical sense of humor. He will be dearly missed.

If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to any organization dedicated to the preservation of nature, animals or wildlife.
