Willie “Bill” Lee Poteet, age 78, of Ashland City, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at TriStar Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
He was born on January 10, 1946, in Scottsville, Kentucky, to the late Charlie Poteet and Lola (Kirby) Poteet.
He was retired from construction.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Lola Poteet; daughter, Christy Hardin; brothers, Charles Poteete, Lloyd Poteete, and Al Poteete, Sr.; and sisters, Helen McQuiston, Dotty Raymer, Maybelle Kirby, and Debra Teaster.
He is survived by his significant other, Betty Belcher; sons, James York and Billy York; daughter, Christy Patterson (Joe); nephew, George York (Debbie); brothers, Henry Poteet and Rickey Poteete; many nieces and nephews, grandchildren, Sara Escue (Chris), C.J. Hampton (Sam), Julia Hodges, and Roxanna Patterson (Robby); 2 great-grandsons; 6 great-granddaughters, and 1 great granddaughter on the way.
Funeral service will be Thursday, October 3, 2024, at 12 noon in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home. Burial will follow in EverRest of Cheatham in Pleasant View, Tennessee. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 2, 2024, from 1 pm to 7 pm, and Thursday, October 3, 2024, from 10 am until the service hour of 12 noon. Serving as pallbearers will be family and friends.
