Second South Cheatham Utility District was recently named the winner of the Region 9 Best Tasting Water Contest sponsored by the Tennessee Association of Utility Districts (TAUD).

TAUD Region 9 consists of Cheatham, Dickson, Hickman, Houston, Humphreys, Montgomery, and Stewart counties. In addition to Second South Cheatham Utility District, the other utilities participating in the competition were Pleasant View Utility District, and Water Authority of Dickson County.

Participating as judges for the competition were Jenna Hazelet from Servline, Tom Moss from TDEC, and former TAUD Board President Pat Riley. The drinking water samples were judged on their clarity, bouquet, and taste.

This spring, TAUD is conducting the Best Tasting Water in Tennessee Contest in each of its 11 regions. Each regional winner will compete at the TAUD’s 2023 Annual Business Conference at the Gatlinburg Convention Center on Thursday, August 10.  The statewide winner will represent TAUD at the Great American Water Taste Test held in conjunction with the National Rural Water Association’s Rural Water Rally in February 2024.
