A joint sex offender compliance check was conducted over the week of January 29th in Cheatham County.

Despite contending against icy conditions, “Operation Overwatch” was successfully conducted by Deputies from Cheatham County Sheriff’s Office and Officers from Ashland City Police Department in conjunction with Tennessee Bureau of Investigation Analysts.

In total, 46 offenders were contacted and 42 were found to be in compliance. Contact was unable to be made with 15 registered offenders, which will require additional follow-ups or investigation to determine compliance.

Non-compliant sex offenders saw charges that ranged from failing to meet statutory registration requirements, to possession of child sex abuse material.

Law Enforcement across the state conduct sex offender compliance check operations periodically and at random, in order to ensure adherence to sex offender laws, and to maintain the public’s trust and confidence.
