Nashville Sounds: Win 7-4
The Nashville Sounds’ streak was kept alive last night. The Sounds tied the game as quickly as they were down in the game. In the second inning, down 2-0, the Sounds hit an RBI double, followed by an RBI single to knot things up at 2. They managed only 1 run from then until the eighth inning when they really opened things up by plating 3 guys. A home run, a walk with the bases loaded, and a wild pitch scored all 3 base runners. The Knights got 2 of those runs back in the bottom of the eighth, but the Sounds would halt them there and hold on for the win. They have won 14 in a row!
Atlanta Braves: Loss 5-3
The Braves fell to the Nationals 5-3 last night in Atlanta. The Braves rallied late in the game to tie things up at 3, but the Nationals held on to the win with some insurance runs added in the eighth and ninth innings. Minter was given the loss on the mound for the Braves.
Cincinnati Reds: Postponed
The Cincinnati Reds were scheduled to play the Phillies, but due to weather, the game was postponed.
Memphis Grizzlies: Loss 126-110
The Memphis Grizzlies put up a valiant effort in the NBA Playoffs. Very few expected them to even make it as the 8 seed. They had to play 2 play-in games against the Spurs and the Warriors to even make it, and then they took on the number 1 seed Jazz. Last night was Game 5 of the series and would prove to be the final of this series. The Jazz started off hot like they have all series when Donavan Mitchell has been playing. They led by 20 points at the end of the first period 47-27. It would be a straight up-hill battle from there on out for the Grizzlies. They clawed and played hard, but they were just outmatched in the game, and ultimately the series. The second quarter was closer, but the Jazz still came out on top 28-24. The halftime deficit for Memphis was 23 points. 75-51. In the second half, the Grizzlies continued to play as hard as they could but could not mount the comeback. They ultimately won the fourth quarter by 14, but the game was well out of hand by then and the Grizzlies fell 126-110. They were eliminated from the NBA Playoffs. Ja Morant proved that he is the Grizzlies’ future as he put up 27 points and 11 assists in the loss. There is a lot to build off of for next year for Memphis, starting with Morant.
