Due to severe storm damage, US-70/SR-1 will remain closed from White Bluff Road in White Bluff to SR-249 near Pegram for several days.
Saturday morning’s storms downed many trees and utility lines across the region. Due to extensive damage to utility lines on US-70/SR-1, TDOT will have to close an 11-mile portion while utility crews rebuild the lines. TDOT crews are working with utility companies to remove trees and debris from the roadway to expedite the work.
The closure is expected to last up to 7-10 days. Motorists should plan to take another route until the work is complete.
