An unexpected situation at a Cheatham County high school led to a temporary evacuation and large law enforcement response as officials worked to ensure student safety.
School officials say an unidentified package was discovered at Sycamore High School, prompting the activation of district safety procedures. Students were relocated to Sycamore Middle School while authorities investigated.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol responded with a robot to safely remove the package, and additional sweeps of the building were conducted alongside the Cheatham County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities later confirmed the school was cleared. As a precaution, Sycamore High School will remain closed on Wednesday, April 29.
Parents were directed to pick up students at Sycamore Middle School, where reunification efforts were underway. Student drivers were released separately, and bus riders were transported home.
