Here are seven things to know about Nashville’s newest music venue.
1. Miranda Lambert will open the venue
The Truth officially opens Oct. 1 with a sold-out, one-night-only performance by Miranda Lambert.
The opening season will continue with several other sold-out shows, including Malcolm Todd, Role Model and Freya Skye.
Other artists scheduled to perform before the end of the year include Jack White, The Chicks, Sting, The Smashing Pumpkins, HARDY, Beck, GloRilla, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Bleachers, Limp Bizkit, Foster the People, Goose, Orville Peck, Jodeci and Stephen Wilson Jr.
2. The venue holds 4,400 people
The Truth has a capacity of approximately 4,400 guests.
Rather than creating one large floor, designers built the room vertically with three tiers intended to keep concertgoers closer to the stage.
According to Live Nation, no fan will be more than 150 feet from the stage.
3. The name has a Nashville connection
The venue’s name comes from one of Nashville’s best-known songwriting quotes.
Legendary songwriter Harlan Howard once described country music as “three chords and the truth.”
That connection to Nashville songwriting influenced the venue’s name as well as several features throughout the building.
4. There are several Nashville-inspired spaces inside
Fans will find several areas designed specifically for The Truth.
In the Lyric Lobby, a custom chandelier will project lyrics from the artist performing that night.
The Set List Studio will use an antique 1950s letterpress to print each night’s setlist, giving fans an opportunity to take home a show-specific keepsake.
The two-story Vinyl Room was created in collaboration with nearby United Record Pressing and includes artifacts celebrating Nashville’s vinyl-record history.
5. Tennessee whiskey will have a major presence
Harlan’s, the venue’s mezzanine whiskey bar, will feature bottles from 34 Tennessee whiskey makers, with additional selections expected to be added.
The venue says the collection will become one of the largest selections of Tennessee whiskey offered at a live music venue.
6. Food will have a Tennessee influence
The Truth’s food program will incorporate Tennessee ingredients and traditions.
The Vinyl Room will serve an Asian-inspired menu featuring steak frites made with locally sourced grass-fed beef from Bear Creek Farm, sushi “tots” and taiyaki.
Another menu item will put a handheld spin on Tennessee’s familiar “meat and three” barbecue tradition.
Seasonal Tennessee peaches, handmade jam and other local ingredients will also be featured.
7. Local music students will actually take the stage first
Although Miranda Lambert will headline The Truth’s official opening, she won’t technically be the first performer on the stage.
Students from W.O. Smith Music School are scheduled to perform during a soft opening before Oct. 1.
Live Nation has also made multi-year commitments to W.O. Smith Music School and the Nashville Songwriters Association International.
The venue is also partnering with nearby Humphreys Street, a social enterprise that provides local teens with employment and mentorship opportunities. Humphreys Street will provide custom coffee and soaps for artists and touring crews backstage.
The Truth officially opens Oct. 1 in Nashville’s Wedgewood-Houston neighborhood at 440 Chestnut Street.
