Despite bitterly cold temperatures, the Cheatham County Area 29 Special Olympics Polar Plunge drew a strong turnout Sunday at Riverbluff Park in Ashland City, with participants braving icy water to support local athletes.
Community members, students, and school staff took the plunge to raise support for Special Olympics athletes, with each jump into the water helping fund programs that celebrate determination, inclusion, and perseverance. The frigid conditions didn’t deter the crowd, as laughter and encouragement filled the park throughout the event.
Several Cheatham County schools sponsored teams for the plunge, contributing to the event’s overall success. Organizers thanked the plungers, volunteers, donors, and school supporters who helped make the annual fundraiser possible, noting the strong sense of community that carried the day despite the extreme cold.
