Billy Ray Newman, age 82, of Ashland City, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2024.
He was born on October 31, 1941, in Ashland City, Tennessee, to the late Luther Talmadge “L.T.” Newman and Bethel Mazelle (Dicus) Newman.
He worked as a brick mason. He loved NASCAR, gardening, and fishing.
Billy is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carolyn (Louallen) Newman; and brothers, Grady Newman, Ralph Newman, J.B. Newman, Bobby Newman, and Jimmy Newman.
He is survived by his wife, Frances (Whittle) Newman; son, Steve Newman (Coni); daughter, Teresa Thomason; step-son, Jeffrey Elliott; sisters, Peggy Roper and Sherry Hardwick; grandchildren, Josh Newman, Daniel Thomason, Billy Oldham, Carolyn Perry (Michael), Tia Newman, and Terra Johnson (Chris); and numerous great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held on Sunday, August 11, 2024, at Faith Community Church of the Nazarene (238 Ed Harris Road, Ashland City, Tennessee 37015) at 4 pm with Pastor Shaun Sutton officiating. Visitation will be the same day from 2 pm until the hour of service at 4 pm.
