Dr. Charles Lacy Fields, age 96, of Ashland City, Tennessee died peacefully on September 9, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on July 8, 1925 in Milan, Tennessee to Dr. Virgil and Mrs. Esther Lacy Fields.
Charles graduated from Castle Heights Military Academy in Lebanon, TN, and joined the US Army Airforce, serving in the European Theatre while stationed in Thetford, England during WWII. After the war, he played collegiate football and graduated from Murray State University. In 1953, he graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry and opened a dental practice in Ashland City, where he served for over 30 years.
Charles was a member of several professional and service organizations including the American Dental Association, Nashville Dental Society, Ashland City Lion’s Club, and American Saddlebred Horse Association. He was a Vol for Life, avid supporter of Big Orange Football, showed and trained American Saddlebred horses, and a student of WWII history.
He is predeceased by his parents, one brother, Dr. Richard Fields, and wife Ann Fields.
He is survived by children Brad (Kathy) Fields, Beth (Jerry) Breeden, and Mary Catherine Fields, three grandchildren (Josh, Kate, and Nathan), and two great-grandchildren.
Our family extends appreciation to Dr. Tim Hinton (VUMC), Sarah Bell, and the healthcare providers and staff of Hillcrest Health Center and Alive Hospice for their compassion in caring for Dad.
