Joe Jay Moore, age 81, passed away to be with his Lord on Friday, September 24, 2021, at TriStar Centennial Hospital in Nashville, TN.

Joe was born on March 10, 1940, to the late William and Koma (Rives) Moore.

He was a retired machine operator for Werthan Bag after 43 years. Joe was a member of Ashland City First Baptist Church, a proud United States Army Veteran, and a member of the Cheatham County Senior Golf Association. Joe’s friendship will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Shirley Hunter; brothers, William Moore, Jr., and Randal Moore.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Jerri Moore; son Charles Edward Moore, daughter Tammy Annette Smith (Kyle), and daughter Sandy Jo Cherry (Chris); stepdaughter, Donna Miller (Bryan); sister, Carol Loring; sister-in-Law, Judy Moore, grandchildren, Logan Hunter Biggs (Casey), Laken King, Brandon Smith (Samantha), Brett Smith, Kelsy Miller, Jacob Miller (Devon), and great-grandchildren Braxton Biggs, Kaydence Smith, and Everleigh Smith, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service for Joe will be Monday, October 4, 2021, at 12noon in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home with Derek Wright officiating. Burial will follow at 2 pm in the Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery in Nashville, Tennessee, with military honors. Visitation will be Sunday, October 3rd, from 2 pm to 7 pm and on Monday, October 4th, from 10 am until service hour of 12noon. Serving as pallbearers are Logan Biggs, Brandon Smith, Larry Moore, Randy Moore, John Gilley, Mark Gilley, Kenneth Overstreet, and Johnny Bobbitt.
